Resources

We do have many resources already up. More will be added by date listed in the bottom field.

Writing Resources

You will find only the top 5 – 10 links for:

1) Dictionaries, including a special section for rhyming dictionaries.

2) Thesauruses

3) Grammar Handbooks

4) How-to write by Genre or writing type (screenplays, poetry, prose, fiction, and so on.)

5) Other writing forums

6) Other great sites for language learning.

7) Classic books online

8) More categories might be added. Translators in less common languages, for example. See below.

9) The resource page will probably be split into subpages for your convenience.

Note: Publishing has its own page.

About the links: You will find that I am very picky on my links. For example, most online free translators are a necessary evil and are wholly inaccurate, as they translate out of context. As I find sites like Linguee.de , I will add them and move the other translators down the list, or off the list, until only the top 2 of those types are listed.

About Translators: I will list at least 1 translator for each of the 9 target languages and will add at least 1 link to other languages, beyond the 9 target languages, that don’t have translator support listed already as soon as possible.

Future How-To (and last section):

I will write on a separate page, a “How-to research in languages you do not know”, illustrating how to use google to find the correct meaning of words in two target languages, how to find key data, and any other tips I have found useful. This will not be for the lazy who wants everything handed to them on a silver platter! It is intense work, that I find gratifying. Its a really cool puzzle. And, it will help stave off Alzeheimers, Dementia, and other brain cell losing disorders. Plus, it will help raise your IQ score and improve your problem solving techniques. Lastly, when you are done, you will no longer find Foreign Languages to be a barrier in finding the answer you need, when that answer does not exist in your native language.

My real world example, if you are so inclined to read:

I did have to find a ‘how-to’ for GIMP in another language, because I wasn’t finding my answer in English. I found the answer in German. And, I was able to translate the key sentence I needed to solve my problem. This leads me to another project I wish I could take on – make a simpler and more exhaustive tutorial in various subjects for all those newbies out there where the tutorials don’t make sense or are taught in a way that the newbie doesn’t learn well in. Programming, for example. Most forums contain thousands of newbies all headbanging because there is very few people with answers. Most tutorials use simplistic examples that don’t translate well into the real world. I’d add a more complex, real world example.
